Okay, so I finally had the chance to see it in person. I had been hearing Mike's reports all week of Abby and Ramon, the good and the bad, the tears and the triumphs, but now I have finally seen it for myself. He is amazing!!! Abby had a session this am at 8:45 and then back to the hotel where I was waiting after my flight in from TO at 8:00am. Super happy to be re-united!! We hung out for and then into the city to find a parking spot (not an easy task) and have some lunch. We then strolled the streets for a bit before it was time to meet up with Ramon. The clinic is called Yaldei and is on the 5th floor of the hospital in Montreal. Immediately I could see the connection he felt for Abby and they quickly got to work. There were 3 other therapists in the room, all spending time to learn from the master. They also work as his assistants setting up boxes and transitioning Abby back to the start of each repetition. There was not a single tear shed today!! This is big!! Abby was amazing! He was very impressed with what she was able to accomplish and each time he clearly set out to push the limits of her mobility. They did stand from the floor holding only one ankle, walking with bands holding onto only the 'tail' of the band, sliding organza at standing, and the super-tall mushroom with an added level of height. She was like superwoman!! They also did what we call earthquake...a balance beam of boxes that tilts as she walks. They finished off with beams back and forth. In Ramon's own words, "her body is 100% ready to walk now her mind needs to click in". Yeah!!! He was so positive and re-enforced that this is the correct therapy for Abby. Such an uplifting day. It confirmed that this was worth it!! More to follow soon.... Tomorrow's sessions are evening ones, should be a tough one after a long day.
