Monteal - Day 10

Well, we have been tear free for 3 sessions!! Yeah!!
I think it started with the "playdate session" (as we called it) on Tuesday night. She was able to have fun with the girls and Ramon while he coached them through some exercises.

Today Ramon was back at the CME but took it a little easy on her. He said that he is able to do this because he has done all the challenging exercises that he wanted to this trip and he knows what she can do. Again he said that her physical body is ready to walk, now it is a matter of her mind! He decided to lessen the intensity of the exercises, involve me more, and have fun with her in hopes that this would start to build her confidence. It did. She did a great job!! For some of the exercises he let Abby rest her hands lightly on my arms for "security". She was happy with that addition!!! There was not a single tear shed today! Good day. He also said that this philosophy is the "new Ramon". A year ago he would have never "let up" on the intensity of the exercise and would have just barreled through. Now, after consultation with his son who is a child psychologist, he has learned to respect the input of the parents and see when the child needs a break and will change it up. She still worked really hard although now she actually had fun!! This will make seeing Ramon again in Chile much more pleasurable:)

Relaxed this afternoon in the hotel...too hot out to do much. A last swim and then dinner out. Tomorrow is the last day here. Therapy at 10 and 2 and then we hit the road back home. We are ready for Home Sweet Home.

Again, thank-you to everyone who made this possible. It has been a wonderful 2 weeks and Ramon's work with Abby has been amazing. As parents we needed to hear from Ramon that one day she will walk and we heard this over and over again. Now to build up her confidence:) The journey continues each week with Michelle at Butterfly and then off to Chile to do another 2 week block in the winter.
